Electric Violins

Electric violins are instruments that contain an electronic output of its sound. These may be referred to as amplified violins, which refers to the fact that the violin is electrified with built-in pickups. It contains many of the elements of an ordinary violins, but it utilizes technology to make a more distinct and original sound. There are so many advancements in technology, we never know what new type of innovation is going to pop up.

Since the early 20th century these electrically amplified instruments have been sharing their unique music. There are a variety of genres that have used, and still continue to use these violins. They have been heard in classical music, country music, and hip hop. It is no surprise that they have also been used by jazz and blues artists. Stuff Smith is thought to be one of the first artists to acclimate pickups and electric-violinsamps with violins.

Ordinary violins usually contain four strings, where electric violins contain five, or even six, or seven. The body is also solid, unlike the hollow body of traditional violins. This serves the purpose of avoiding feedback from resonances in such a high state of amplification, and the body also creates a sound that is raw and sharp.

The effects that are created by this instrument is probably what is most appreciated. The sound and effects produced can are different because the electric violin may reverb, delay, or distort sounds, which can produce very different feedback that many people seem to enjoy.
